Enabling anonymous FTP allows visitors to access your web site to upload and/or download files without a unique id and password. By controllable anonymous FTP, we mean that anonymous access can be limited to specific files and directories.

Autoresponders
"Autoresponders" reply to incoming e-mail instantly and automatically. The automated e-mail reply is triggered by an incoming e-mail to a particular address at your domain. You can set and change the text of the reply and the trigger address whenever you like. Autoresponders are ideal for customer service or informing people when you are away.

CGI directory
CGI scripts are small programs that run on the server to add interactivity to your site. The Professional and higher plans have their own CGI directory, allowing you to install and develop your own CGI scripts. We support a number of languages but CGI scripts are usually written in Perl. Havard Associates Ltd also offers several pre-written scripts, available free for your use. These include a hit counter, guest book, mail form, shopping cart*, discussion forum, and more! Every Havard Associates Ltd hosting plan comes with free form to e-mail and counter scripts.

Control Panel
This is a unique feature of all Havard Associates Ltd hosting accounts. It enables you to view and control your e-mail settings, passwords, site statistics and other account features. It also gives you the ability to automatically install a whole range of scripts and templates for use on your site, administer databases, check perl scripts, set up password protected areas of your site and more.

Data Transfer
This is the amount of data (in Mb) being accessed from your site. For example, each time a web page, image, midi file, quicktime video, etc. is loaded, data transfer is generated. Our transfer limits are high. If your site is extremely popular and you do go over, then you can either upgrade to the next plan or pay a small surcharge. You can check your data transfer at any time and can set automated e-mails to remind you of your transfer level via your control panel.

Disk Storage Space
Disk storage space refers to the amount of server disk storage specifically allocated to your account. This space is used to store your html files, graphics, audio clips, POP mail messages, PDFs, and other files that make up your web site. Each of our plans includes a specified allotment of disk storage space, but additional space can be purchased for any account.

Domain Name Registration
Havard Associates Ltd offers domain Web hosting accounts which means you can have your own Web address or "domain name" (e.g.: www.yourname.com). We can handle US or UK domain name registration or transfers on your behalf. (i.e.: .com, .net, .org, .co.uk, etc.).

We can also host non-US/UK domain names. We will provide you with the appropriate nameserver and technical contact information to assist you in registering a domain name yourself.

You can also have additional domain names point to your account for a small additional charge.

E-mail Forwarding
By default all e-mail sent to anything@yourdomain.co.uk is sent on to the e-mail address that you gave when placing your order. You can pick specific e-mail addresses e.g. sales@yourdomain.co.uk to be forwarded to a different address. The number of forwarding options depends on which plan you choose. You can set and change your e-mail settings yourself, free of charge and at any time.

Excite
Excite allows you to use the powerful search engine to search your own web pages by placing a search field on your site. Our step by step instructions allow you to create an index of your pages and then create template search and results pages.

FTP Access
FTP (File Transfer Protocol) is the method used to upload and download pages to and from your web site. You will have unlimited access to your account via FTP 24-hours a day to set up and maintain your web site. You can work on HTML documents, graphics, and scripts locally and then upload files to your web site when ready.

Form to E-mail Script
This script enables you to collect customer information from your web site, via a form, and then sends the information to you in an e-mail. The script is provided free with all full hosting plans. The script self installs with template forms and e-mails for you to develop. The script is provided free for your use.

FrontPage Extensions
Microsoft FrontPage is a program that can be used to design and manage your web site. To use the facilities provided by FrontPage you need to have FrontPage extensions installed. The extensions are programs that run on the server. We can install Microsoft FrontPage extensions on your account free of charge. You may request that FrontPage extensions be installed within your web site when placing an order for domain web hosting services or contact our support department directly. Microsoft provides direct support for the use of FrontPage.

mSQL Database Server
mSQL (mini SQL), is a lightweight database engine designed to provide fast access to stored data. We provide the tools to create a searchable database. In most instances, custom programming (commonly Perl) is needed to implement a fully functional web-to-database interface.

POP mailboxes
As well as e-mail forwarding, you have the option to retrieve e-mail directly from POP3 mailboxes. POP3 mailboxes are like PO boxes for e-mails, the e-mails are stored there until you collect them. Each of our plans includes a Master POP account which can receive all e-mail, plus a number of configurable POP accounts. The additional POPs can be assigned unique ids and passwords to ensure privacy. You can also purchase additional POPs if needed.

RealAudio/Video^TM
RealAudio/Video system is a client-server based streaming media delivery system for the Internet. You can create and deliver audio/video-based streaming multimedia content through the Internet to audiences worldwide.

Shopping Cart
A Shopping Cart program allows you to implement your own on-line storefront. The shopping cart keeps track of what visitors have ordered and allows them to add or remove items from a 'virtual shopping cart'. When a visitor decides to check-out, the order information including the buyer's name, address and billing instruction is e-mailed to the site webmaster and a receipt is sent to the shopper. Our Commerce and higher plans include a commercially available script that we have licensed and provide free for your use. The script self-installs with templates for you to develop in HTML. You do not need any CGI experience to set up a fully functional shopping cart.

SSL Secure Server
SSL (Secure Socket Layer) allows you to collect data such as credit card information from customers/viewers via a strongly encrypted connection. You can set up as much secure space as you like within your plans allocated disc space.

Statistics
We give you a choice of 4 web statistics packages: MKStats1.0, MKStats 2.1, Analog and WebTrends, to track your web usage statistics. These allow you to see where people are accessing your web site from, how many "hits" you are getting, how much data is being transferred and more. You can also see extra information such as search words people have used to visit your site and the days/times that your site is most popular. Statistics are updated daily. Looking at and analysing your statistics is essential for understanding what visitors to your site are looking for, and helping you to design a more successful site.

TrueSpeech^TM
TrueSpeech is a high quality speech compression software which compresses speech down to as much as 1/40th its original size. Since regular speech files are normally large, compression using TrueSpeech enables them to be transferred faster and more easily. You can have as many e-mail addresses as you want e.g. sale@yourdomain.co.uk, info@yourdomain.co.uk and so on. All e-mails sent to addresses that you have not set up specific e-mail forwarding for will be sent on to the default forwarding address.
